Apprenticeship Grants for Employers of 16 - 24 year olds
The grant is aimed at helping eligible employers to offer young people employment through the Apprenticeship programme, by providing wage grants of £1500 to assist employers in recruiting their first apprentice.
Criteria
Small-medium sized employers with less than 250 employees.
Large employers (more than 250) employees are not eligible but we do want to encourage take-up within their small-medium enterprises (SME) supply chain.
Up to 3 grants can be made to any one employer if you commit to the total number of apprentices at the upfront agreement stage.
Employer's Commitment
To sign an agreement which will include:
Confirmation of the number of apprentices the employer will be taking on as a result of this incentive (to a maximum of 3).
Declaration that the employer wouldn't have taken an apprentice on without this additional incentive.
A commitment to employ the apprentice for at least the time it takes to achieve the Apprenticeship framework (Level 2 Apprenticeship = 12 months)
Confirmation that the employer is aware of and does no breach state aid rules.
Agreement to pay the minimum Apprenticeship wage of £2.60 per hour - although this is a minimum and most employers pay more.
Confirmation that the employer have not taken on an apprentice in the previous three years (i.e. on or after 9 April 2009)
